Building the future — The crypto
Today I’ve attended the “Crypto: after the hype, comes the future” session on the Building the Future event. In the pannel were represented:
- Visa, with Paula Antunes da Costa, VP Global Account Director
- Millennium BCP (one of Portugal’s largest banks), with José Brandão de Brito, Head of Research, ESG and Crypto
- Microsoft Portugal, with André Mestre, Senior Enterprise Client Executive
Due to the name of the session, my expectations were the use cases in development by the panel represented company.
However, what we saw was crypto for dummies session:
The Visa representative, talked about what is a exchange, stablecoins, using cards to pay services, defi services, NFT and the creation of digital currencies by central banks.
The BCP representative basically supported everything the colleague said by the college and noticed that the company is watching the trends.
What a disappointment. I was expecting much more, especially with the vision and use-cases being studied by both these companies.
This was not the future, but an overview of the present.
